But secondly, if I were making a metaphor (or a simile) about a girl's sparkly eyes for example, I wouldn't compare them ping pong balls, since ping pong balls don't sparkle. I'd compare them to stars, or twinkly christmas lights or something.

Similarly, while again I agreed with your entire point, I was just pointing out (in what I thought was a friendly way) that your comparison wasn't a good one since the compared scenario (the frog in the pot of water) actually is not similar to what you were describing with regard to persecution - since the frog will hop the hell out of the pot when it becomes uncomfortable.
