Cats - Why They Are Not All Bad

While a lot of people are going to argue that all cats are bad, you need to realize there are no bad cats. All you have to do is realize cats are just unique and different than the normal pets people are used to. You just need to realize cats live there own cat world and you are just a speed bump the way to the way the cats are living, but they are going to want to live in their own world. The best thing, for a cat owner, to do is know what your cat is going to do what it wants to do, no matter what you try. In fact, the reason you do not see a lot of cat obedience schools is they the cats are so independent. Since they are so independent the cats are the ones who would like you to be taught, rather than the other way around and that is what you will find in most cat owners.

Unlike a dog that wants to please you, a cat will do anything it can to keep you from being happy. So if you want to get a pet that is going to listen to you all the time, then you should look for a small breed dog. Now that you understand that, it is time to start to address some of the behavior cats can have. You may find when your cat misbehaves you try to punish them, but it does not really work out that well. That is because you will find the cat is never going to realize why you are punishing them.

The other issue you will find is when you are punishing the cats, they are not going to change the behavior and instead will just scare the cat and make them scared of you. Then the issue that comes up is the cats will know about the punishment so they are going to avoid doing the behavior in front of you if they can. The cats will actually just wait until you are not paying attention or you are at work. You may think that your cat knows what you are talking about, but in all likelihood, the cats will just completely ignore you and do the same thing later on.


Often you will start to ask yourself why your cat is doing this to drive you crazy. First, the cats do not really understand the language you are yelling at them in. The good thing is the cats do understand the body language you are giving them. Cats, just like your dogs are going to love the praise you can give them and if your cats are really loving it, you will find treats are a great option as well. Just remember this because if you do not, then the cats will not understand why you are yelling at them.

Consider the type of day your cat has all day, while you are home or at work. You are typically going to be at work, get home and eat, but usually, you will be tired. The cat, on the other hand, has been asleep almost all day and is going to want to play.

On the other hand, once you get home from work you just want to pile up on the couch and watch television. This typically means you just give your cat a pat on the head or play the can I avoid getting my hand nipped by the playful kitty. If you are not fast enough you may end up getting nipped and sometimes yell at your cat. The downside is your cat, if you yell at them, will think you are playing and will consider the attention you are giving them, even if it is negative as a reward.


A common problem for people is the bad items that people think is what the cats are doing, is the opposite of what the cats think since they feel like this is good and natural for them.

A good example is when your cat decides to go out and scratch up the furniture. This is a normal cat behavior, but for people, it is bad because the cats can target the furniture. As the owner, who wants to have the furniture saved, they need to make sure they have a scratching post. With the scratching post, it is important to make sure your cat has a good experience when they are using the post you have installed for them, if not they will remember the post as being a bad experience and avoid using it.

A key thing to realize is you need to watch your cat and see what has changed in the house if your cat starts doing some bad behavior all at once. This could be something as simple as changing the time of dinner, but it could also be the addition of a new pet into the house

As independent as cats are, they have a tendency to get settled into patterns they are not going to want to have broken. Something else that you need to think about is any potential medical problems. A good example of this would be starting to pee outside the litter box. We had one cat that started peeing outside of the litter box anytime he had a urinary tract infection.

If you do want to change your cat's behavior, here are some things to remember.

You need to make sure you stop all type of discipline on the cat. You should start to make the life of your cat very fun and rewarding. This can often be done by simply changing what you do and you will notice your cat adjust their behavior some as well. A key thing to remember is your cats do not really speak or understand the language you are talking to them in.

While a lot of people think that cats are horrible animals with a lot of bad behavior this is not the case. They are just doing what comes naturally to them as a cat. All that we have done as people are bring in these beautiful animals from the wild, several thousand years ago, and tried our best to make them bend to our will. All we have to remember is the behavior the cats are doing is what comes naturally to them.
