[30/F/Chicago] Looking for someone who doesn't mind heavy stuff

Hey there! Happy New Year, if you're into that.

Unfortunately, i don't have very much going on in that department myself. I haven't really got a family, and the only 'friends' i have are just work friends, nobody i feel connected to or anything. I was going to play a computer game to distract myself, but someone yelled at me on it and now i just feel even worse.

I was hoping someone here, maybe someone who's also in kind of a sad or nostalgic mood, wouldn't mind being my new distraction — or the other way around. I know 'heavy stuff' isn't the #1 best seller when you're looking to start conversations with people, but i'd love to find somebody of a similar mind set to share things like this with. And i promise i do have some interesting things to say behind all of the emotional issues!

About me:

  • I've recently turned 30, which i'm not super psyched about

  • I live alone. Well, i have my cat, who is perfect in every single way... except for the fact that he can't answer posts like this

  • I work in technology

  • My main interests include computers, clothes/shoes/make-up, spending money, video games (mostly 'retro' ones, but some newer ones too), music, YouTube, politics/sociology, and cooking/eating

  • I love learning about things, and have a very broad (though sometimes shallow) range of interests, from linguistics to psychology to wood-working to astronomy

  • I am definitely what redditors would call an 'SJW'. I know that will scare some people off, but honestly that's probably for the best — i'm looking for someone to share mutual comfort and understanding, not a debate

All genders, orientations, races, ages, and locations are welcome, though i think we might have more in common if you were near-ish to my own age. I'm open to chat via (in rough order of preference) Discord, Skype, Kik, Cryptocat, or reddit PM.

Hope this wasn't too obnoxious of a post. Talk to one of you soon, maybe. If not, good luck with your own search!

Musings on the Future

Many others have written about the very similar plot structure between the high school arc and the college arc, and there has been speculation over whether the college arc will continue to mimic its predecessor or diverge into something very different. I suspect that we're going to end this arc on a more ambiguous tone than the previous one. It's theoretically possible that we're headed for a Bad End.

Think of the title of the manga: Gakkou Gurashi, which means something like "living at school." While we could go on to make our title untrue, it's also possible that we might not. If there's really an airborne strain of the infection, then any of the girls could die at any moment. Even if there isn't, though, they're all in a precarious position. Kurumi is (or believes she is) gradually becoming more and more like a zombie. Yuuri is displaying increasingly risky behaviors in the service of a teddy bear. Miki has hit a low point after all the emotional blows she's taken and seems unable to take action on her own initiative, something that makes her easy to exploit. Yuki seems more or less all right in a psychological sense, but she's prone to taking risks when trying to help people. All of her friends need help... and beyond that, being alone with Kurumi is not without its dangers these days. A TPK is not out of the question...

But I don't think this is the kind of series that would actually do that.

That said, I don't think we're getting out of here as cheerfully as the last time we left a place. Unlike Yuki, Yuuri hasn't shown a single sign of improvement from her delusions. If anything, she's getting worse. I don't think that she's going to die during this arc, but she's not going to just snap out of it in a few chapters, either. The last arc left us concerned about Kurumi's cold arm and thoughts of suicide, but she's considerably closer to the edge. I would not be surprised if we have to leave Kurumi behind--but at least she promised to say goodbye first.

I expect most of the Melee Fight Crew to be dead, zombified, or otherwise permanently removed from the plot by the end of this arc. I thought about Ayaka as an exception, someone to become a villain, but in the end I think she's going to be her own downfall in one way or another. Sino, to me, is a wild card: her possible pregnancy could be used in some interesting ways to move the plot forward, and she seems determined to live. But it would be quite possible to wrap up her character arc in the next few chapters as well. I don't really see any of the other university characters as being relevant later on, unless Aozoi has some elaborate evil plot cooking that we don't know about yet.

If we leave St. Isidore at the end of the arc (perhaps we won't, and we'll have another term of college!) and bring Kurumi with us, then we will absolutely be going on a quest to find a permanent cure for her. Either way, we will probably dedicate the next arc to finding out the exact story behind the zombie plague, and I don't really expect another arc after we have our answers.

On another note: we still don't really know why the zombies are still active at this stage. There is an extremely limited quantity of remaining prey, and their bodies should presumably continue to rot as time went on. We haven't seen them eat each other, or really any non-human food source, but that's one of very few explanations I can come up with for what's happening. At any rate, we should eventually see the population of zombies fall dramatically, and perhaps completely wipe itself out through starvation and lack of new hosts. If our girls can hold on, a much safer future is coming.

Advice... please

I am a grandma who loves her granddaughter immensely. She moved out of her mother's house because they didn't get a long and she was emotionally abusive to her. I took her in and I didn't mind it because I felt bad for her. She's 20 now and moved in with me around 17/18 years. The first 6 months to a year were fine but I was noticing the behaviors that probably made her mom upset. She is very lazy and doesn't help around the house. I ask her to unload the dishwasher and while she does it takes her a while to get to it. She does have ADHD and stopped taking medications years ago because they made her anxious and sick. So, her memory isn't the best. Possibly anxiety or some other mental problems. She has told me she doesn't mind helping around the house it's just she's not used to it because her parents did everything for her. Also she feels in the way and anxious so that's another reason why she doesn't pitch in. She struggled in 11th grade with her grades and teachers have emailed me that she refuses to do her homework especially with Math because she has always struggled alot with Math. Not only this but the teachers have also stated that she is very uncomfortable at school and refuses to make eye contact. The counselor call me and told me she was wanting to be called AJ which I found strange. She's always hated her name and to this day talks about how much she hates it and that to doesn't feel like her. She told me she gives up on everything because she's tired of failing. She ended up taking Summer school for Math after 11th grade and worked hard to finish it. I'm proud of her and all. While all this was going on I was noticing her wardrobe was changing drastically. She always wanted to wear boy clothes and cut her hair like a boy. I don't mind her looking like a tomboy but now it's gotten to the point she doesn't look like a girl at all and refuses to wear anything associated with girls. In 2014 she worked for her dad and did a good enough job but many people made comments about how she looked like a boy, her work clothes were boys. They even mentioned how she slouches and pulls her shirt away from her chest. I've been noticing this as well. She's always done this actually even when she was younger. Getting her to fix her hair and wearing dresses was a battle. I put her in a dress and she kicked and screamed. She's always been a tomboy but it feels a bit extreme. When she was a child she got upset when she couldn't play with the boys or their toys. Her Halloween costumes were boys most of the time. Same goes for her birthday parties. She didn't mind girl things but preferred boy things. Playing with girls she was rough and wrestled them and I had to tell her that was a thing boys do. She cut off her hair when she was about 4 years because long hair made her uncomfortable. Anyway, now that she's 20 years old she doesn't work or go to school. I've confronted her on it and she's told me she's anxious and doesn't feel like herself. She wants to live on her own but she says she's afraid and feels stuck. I understand because she struggles with doing basic life skills like cooking, laundry, ect. She feels like she can't thrive in life because she feels... "wrong" She always cuts herself down and says she wishes she could have a straight body and no curves, and a few times I've washed her clothes and found some black tank top and this thing was very tight looking. Another time I found a sock in her boxers. I never questioned her about it. She's very secretive on her Facebook account and hides a lot of things from me, in general. I have a daughter whom she talks to a lot and really acts friendly and social with. While with me she does do the same but gets very moody too. She has no passions or interests. Nothing motivates her. I found out a while ago she was lesbian from her mother. I'm upset by this and it does disgust me. Once I overheard her using her webcam and talking to an online friend and she said to them that she wishes she could live life but she feels fake. Now she's coming to her asking for birth control because her periods are too heavy and disgust her. I'm sorry if this sounds insensitive but I don't want to deal with her anymore. She's 20 years old and needs to get it together. Her cousins drive and she doesn't even do that. She's too scared of her ADHD and anxiety interfering. But I'm frustrated that all my grandchildren are living their lives and trying to be successful and make something off themselves but this one. Please help a grandma out I'm desperate.

Seems like 2017 might be a year when many people discover the secrets of pizza and other Italian food...

Just an observation. Seems to be in the spirit of all of the cooking shows these days. Only a matter of time before a pizza related show mapped out the methods of this historic concept.

29 [f4M] Raleigh, NC - Sweet Girl looking for her Forever Guy :)

Hello!

Thank you for stopping by and Happy New Year! Here's hoping 2017 is better for us all :)

A little bit about me: I am a 29, single white female, looking for a monogamous LTR. I am looking for my forever person.

That isn't to say I will want to marry you after our first date...I'm not insane ;) But I am ready to settle down and be with someone until death do us part!

I have a wonderful career, my own place, my own car (and yes it is mine because I am done paying for it!!). I have great family and friends.

I enjoy working out, going to the movies, dining out, bowling, game nights, vegging in front of the couch, snuggling, cooking, baking, hiking, reading and writing.

I am a taller gal at 5'10". My personal preference is a guy who is taller than 6'1"...I know, weird. But to be honest, I have tried dating guys who are my height or shorter, and I end up feeling very unfeminine lol. I want to be the girl in the relationship, so....there you have it.

I am drug and disease free. I am NOT 4/20 friendly. I do not share lol. (I've been asked these questions before so I thought I would answer them here!)

I prefer tall, white males, who are around the ages of 28-36 and live relatively close to me.

Anyway, if you think we might click, send me a message.
