It started in college where she switched majors multiple times. Now she's been out for four years and still can't decide on a career path. She's done some stuff in the medical field but doesn't want to pursue it. She's also had various part-time dead-end jobs. She's moved states three times.
Whenever I ask her what she wants to do she says she doesn't know. Even a simple question like "what do you enjoy?" has her mind drawing a blank. When I suggest things I KNOW she enjoys, like cooking or Crossfit, she says she doesn't want to pursue them as a career or that they wouldn't pay well enough. She has a lot of different interests, like animal conservation and travel, but she can't think of anything involving that that she could make money doing or that doesn't require a master's degree. Another problem she has with deciding is she's so afraid of choosing the wrong thing. She doesn't want to spend time pursuing a career only to discover she doesn't want to do it. So she ends up spending years at jobs she KNOWS she doesn't want instead of going after something she MIGHT want.
And it isn't that she doesn't want to work. Almost every day she talks about how she wishes she had a passion to pursue. She's extremely depressed. And there are no therapists that will see her because she's on the state health insurance (which no one takes).
And she keeps asking for my advice, our mother's advice, our brother's. But we can't tell her what to be passionate about. It's been the same conversation for years. I don't know what to do.
