What is a friendly way to tell someone that everything is chemical, and that "chemical" does not contradict "natural"?

I typed "friendly way to tell someone that everything is chemical" into google and got only links to fear mongering sites. Maybe you guys can help me out. The situation is that some people I like a lot have this idea that "chemicals" can be bad for you, or are at least a strain on your health, as "your body will try to get them out of your system", while natural things aren't as bad. I happened to study biology for a year, and I know that everything around us is chemical, cooking is chemistry, as is me thinking and typing on a computer. But how do you get this idea across?

It's easy to be snarky, like "Amanita phalloides is as nartural as it gets, they are said to taste fantasic, but they will kill you I you do not get an all natural liver transplant soon enough", but that won't help this situation.

So how do you add colors to this black and white mind set?
