So recently I've been interested in the cooking mechanic and I've built up a small supply of some mushrooms and other ingredients. I decided to use this opportunity to record the results of each attempt at cooking in order to learn the exact math behind each meal. So without further ado, my results thus far:
Global Math
-
Total health restored is the sum of the ingredients' health restoration values multiplied by 2
-
Each ingredient will, by default, add 30 seconds to an effect regardless of what it is
-
The intensity of an effect changes per ingredient IE: Silent Shrooms reach Medium strength at 3 ingredients but Blue Nightshade remains Low even at 5 ingredients
-
Health ingredients seem to provide nothing to the dish except counting as an ingredient (for another +30sec) and restoring HP.
Ingredients I've Tested
Safflina +2:00ea Medium@4
Shrooms +2:00ea Strength Not Tested
Mighty Banana +0:20ea Medium@3 High@4
Silent Shroom +1:30ea Medium@3 High@4/5 (Didn't test 4 yet)
Spicy Peppers +2:00ea (5 not tested, all else is low)
Blue Nightshade +1:30ea
Salt +0:30 ea (Special ingredient, seems to increase time. I only had one at the time though)
Elixirs
-
I'll pretend they follow the +30seconds rule for each ingredient until I have better evidence (only had 19 sunset fireflies to test with)
-
Certain groups of items are the same and I will list them under the same group
Ingredients/Reagents Tested
Sunset Firefly +1:30ea Strength not tested
Horns, Keese Wings +0:40ea Strength not tested
Fangs +1:20ea Strength not tested
Tails, Guts +2:40ea Strength not tested
Note: My initial testing makes me think monsters have a common (horn), uncommon (fang), and rare (guts) drop that all interact with the elixir the same way. I'm not touching my stock of Lynel parts as I've only got a horn and two hooves, but so far it looks like you might as well just toss in bokoblin trash for maximum effect.
Disclaimer If something didn't add up I counted it as a crit and retried - always got a different result so far.
I'm going spoiler free, but if you can point me in the direction of an ingredient without spoiling anything I'll be happy to go pick some up and test them to see what their values are - I haven't made sure to keep a list of where clusters of stuff are apart from the plethora of chillshrooms at Naydra Snowfield.
Additionally, if I can get ahold of multiple ingredients with the same effect I can try to get data on how the strength is effected by mixed ingredients. Currently I'm under the impression that strength is calculated by a counter of sorts which each ingredient adds X amount to until it hits a threshold.
Not Tested
Health restoration with mixed ingredients and 4-5 ingredients
Mixed effect ingredients for strength system analysis
EDIT: Forgot to put my data here
EDIT2: Added elixir info
