Made a Mistake as DM, wondering if I should roll with it or shut it down.

I like introducing rather...Different NPCs to my games. And PCs for that matter, when I'm a player. But I think I took it too far this time.

This is going to be a one player campaign; my single little PC, being played by my brother, is a true neutral human vow of poverty cleric of Pelor, and I was thinking I'd introduce some NPCs to make sure he doesn't die or anything too early on. (He's 3rd level, by the by, and the first encounter-Against a 2nd level Warrior-Already went pretty poorly). He's got this idea that he's essentially gonna be a Jesus character; so I was thinking I'd give him some like minded "Apostles" so to speak. It's just an analogy; I know it's useless to say this but don't start a religious debate pleeeeeaase.

Anyway, I was going to slowly introduce some NPCs to him over time; one would be another vow of poverty character, a Bard, mostly just because I've been dying to try him out and this seemed like the perfect chance. Not too overpowered. The second will be a slightly more comedic character, to lighten things since this will probably be a fairly serious campaign; I found a homebrew Chef class, and decided that would be fun to have. And he can help by cooking meals for the poor and whatnot. The third was going to be a blind little old black Gnome paladin, who has blind-fight and blind sight. Sorta like a paladin daredevil, but a gnome.

So we have a vow of poverty cleric and bard, an elderly blind gnome paladin, and a Russian Goliath chef. Ended up a little more ridiculous than I originally intended, but not overpowered or anything. However, in my eternal quest to try different things, I decided to do the old paladin leadership mount fluff that most DMs hate so much. I was looking around for a unique, medium sized creature to be my little blind paladin's mount, when I stumbled upon the Ravid.

Ravids are medium sized dragon looking things, from the Positive Energy plane. They fly around, are good at hurting undead, have one hand for some reason (Which I homebrewed to be two because that's fucking stupid) and can use animate object as a spell like ability. Perfect! The description said they're followed around by a bunch of tiny things that they've given life to, and I thought it would be really cool if the elderly paladin could make little metal toys that it animated to have move around and stuff. So I made up a character sheet for the paladin and his mount, but then after I had this all done I looked at the description for the Ravid's Animate Object ability, and saw that they could cast it seemingly whenever and as many times as they wanted...At 20th caster level. In other words, they could have 20 small animated objects, 10 medium, five large and so forth. I thought that A. That would be a MESS in combat and B. That would be overpowered. Right now, my temporary solution is to allow just one Large animated object; basically, the paladin (With help from a church he was a part of before he joined the party) Built a large, improvised construct out of metal. Just one massive hunk of metal in the shape of a man. But I'm afraid that that, also, is way too powerful. They're basically geting a FREE large construct, even if it isn't as good as a normal construct and is just technically an animated object. And also can you even use animated object to move things like that, or does it HAVE to be normal things like spoons and sheets and tables? And if this is overpowered, which I'm thinking it is, what should I do instead? Have one medium or perhaps small animated object? Have none at all? Or just replace the Ravid with a normal mount, like some kind of Shudder Sane person? Luckily the paladin won't be introduced into the campaign for a while, but still. Plz halp
