Any treatment hope for adults with food allergies?

I've been living with a peanut allergy for my entire life. Over recent years I've been consistently reading about new progress and treatments for food allergies, specifically peanut allergies, other than plain avoidance of the allergen. For as long as I've been reading about these trials and studies I've wanted to participate, even willing to pay to participate in these treatments.

I keep hearing about how successful the treatment outcomes are, but I still can't find any publicly available desensitization treatments. I'm very passionate about cooking and food, especially other types of food from around the globe, but with my condition I’m severely disabled to pursue my passion and travel to countries where peanut use is prevalent. Most recently I was in Thailand in October and had more than a few peanut reactions, one sending me to the hospital. It resulted in literal fear every time I had to eat and depression because there were so many things I wish I could point and try without worrying about the ingredients and the main reason for the trip was to try the foods.

I'm desperate for something. Even if I could get to the point where eating just a few peanuts would only give me a non-life-threatening reaction I would be happy. Sadly, of the studies I do find available near me they all are only for children. Does anyone have any advice or at least hope for me to gain access to something?

I’m a 24 year old male living in Philadelphia, in case this information is relevant.
