St. Marshall’s Preparatory School for Young Women has a long storied history of preparing the best and brightest for modern womanhood. As many all-girls schools did, it started as merely an early adulthood institution in which to teach women the more feminine skills and virtues. The thought was that this would best prepare them for life as a wife, child bearer and keeper of the home. But of course, as the world modernized so did St. Marshall’s.
It is now most commonly known for it's first rate University programs, including concentrations for those students interested in the fields of business, pre-med, art, theater, music and most notably in many of the STEM areas of study. However, what makes St. Marshall’s particularly unique, and often controversial, is it’s continued commitment to the aforementioned feminine “skills and virtues.”
Several required base level classes include, but are not limited to, “Basic Human Sexuality”, “Home Cooking 101”, “Child Birth & Rearing, “Personal Presentation”, etc. Many women, in fact, choose to pursue one or more of these particular tracts of study, all of which lie within the Womanhood and Femininity Department.
This continued tradition along with the continued practice of corporal punishment, an astoundingly strict dress code, a majority male faculty and a general secretiveness and mystery surrounding certain practices and traditions, has attracted a fair amount of criticism over the years. However, the women who have gone through their education at St. Marshall's consistently have nothing but praise for the program and their school. From housewives to CEOs to Adult Entertainers, there is a thriving alumni base that is more then willing to offer advice and assistance to new graduates.
A highly selective private school, St. Marshall’s has operated now for just under 200 years on the same wooded, secluded piece of property just outside of the little town of Manchester Vermont. There are a number of clubs and intramural sports for students to take part in and despite a student body of only around 1250, Marshall’s has consistently fielded National Championship teams in Swimming and Gymnastics.
Thousands of girls every year apply to get a spot at St. Marshall’s, but only a select, lucky few get in. Do you think you could be one of them? If so, please respond with a message describing yourself, why you think you deserve to be a Marshall Girl, and what classes/major you would be most interested in. If you pass the first round of applications you will be flown in to get a one-on-one interview with the head of admissions.
St. Marshall’s is consistently looking for the best and brightest of any young lady 18 years of age or older. Whenever you happen upon this, feel free to respond even if you just have a comment, question or suggestion. We hope to hear from you!
Good Luck!
