I'm not sure if this post is breaking any rules, but I didn't know where else to post. I'm on mobile, so I'm sorry in advance if my formatting sucks.
tl;dr: Thinking about working third shift and spending the day with my daughter. Will this have negative effects on her?
My fiance and I have a 4 month old. I absolutely LOVE being home and spending time with our daughter. Currently, my fiance works during the day (8am-5pm). We decided that me being home with the baby would be better (and MUCH cheaper) than hiring a babysitter or enrolling in a daycare. Plus, my fiance has a degree and a career she is starting, while I do not have either.
After she gets home, I get ready for work and leave for work from about 6pm-10pm/2am, depending on the day. The days I'm home at 10, I have no problem with our little one during the next day. I'm mostly rested and ready for a day of caring for her and (sometimes, lol) cleaning up our home/cooking. However, days I get home at 2am and have to be up at 6am to help get our daughter get ready and drive mommy to work are hard. If our LO doesn't nap, I'm unable to take naps with her. This can lead to a few rough days (like today) where I have to be out until 2am again and have gotten maybe 3 hours of sleep the night before.
Anyway, I've been considering getting a third shift job for more money, benefits, etc, but I am worried about the effect it may have on our LO. The hours would be from around 10pm to 6am, and I'm worried that I won't be able to sleep, and therefore won't be able to be the best parent to our baby as possible. Does anyone here have experience with a similar situation? (this post was way longer than I intended, lol)
