Hello r/foodscience! I have recently been thinking of taking my career in the direction of food science. I have a BS in Biology and currently work in as an analytical chemist. I don't love doing pure lab work everyday, but I do love science and would like to incorporate it into my future career. I have worked in the food industry (restaurants and college dining halls) and also really enjoy cooking. Food science seems like a very stimulating field that would satisfy my interests in both science and food.
I was wondering what advice you all have about getting into the food science field and the different areas I could become involved in. What types of jobs could I qualify for? I live in Atlanta and would like to stay local. Does anyone know about the food science industry in Atlanta? Would a master's degree be beneficial or should I try to get a job in the field first?
I appreciate any input!
