Question: What causes game meat to sometimes have extremely low calorie counts?

I just went on a big cooking spree where I cooked like 30 venison/wolf steaks. Despite the meat all being above 50% when I cooked them, some of the steaks have caloric counts below 200, while others are 700+. What causes this wild variance? I'm storing the meat outside and they are above 90% condition.
