• 20. Chapter 166 - This is my 20^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter gives us readers an insight at the major difference between Soma and the First seat in terms of cooking. Also, we seen Megumi and Ikumi demonstrate their growth as a chef by defeating chefs chosen by central.
• 19. Chapter 193 - This is my 19^th favorite chapter from 2016 because of the reappearance of Saiba Joichirou. While this chapter did had it's moments, nothing really stuck out except when Saiba appeared out of no where to persuade Azami to accept his irregular shokugeki challenge which really hyped us readers for the next chapters to come.
• 18. Chapter 185 - This is my 18^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter introduced us to 3 new characters being Alice's Father,"Soe Nakiri" and Alice's mother subordinates,"Berta and Sheila". (They are not Nakiris BTW) Despite those 3 being introduced, the ending of this chapter was a big OMFG to me and probably others because Megumi and Takumi are gonna face off against the second seat, Rindou Kobayashi in a cooking match if they want to pass their exam.
• 17. Chapter 170 - This is my 17^th favorite chapter from 2016 because Erina was finally able to remember the type of cooking she once strive to make from Soma's words and through his cooking. The foodgasm Erina had from eating Soma's dish was great don't get me wrong, but what really had me was Soma answering Erinas question as to why he decided to make her a egg dish which he answered ,"Because back then, the ingredients you chose was the egg. This is the perfect dish for burring the hatchet. Don't you think." Reading that made me feel all giddy as to what Erina might say to Soma afterwords about his dish.
• 16. Chapter 178 - This is my 16^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter reaffirmed Erina and Ikumis relationship and showed us readers that Erina doesn't need to always depend on just Hisako for everything anymore because she has other friends like Soma and Megumi who will be there for her which placed a alluring smile on face for realizing that the friendship she has and the city she is in are beautiful. But what made this my 16^th favorite was that the mood was spoiled by Rindou (still and will always be best girl) boarding the same train as Erina, Soma, Takumi and Megumi to inform them that the next exams involves the rebels facing against the elite 10 which means the only way for them to pass is if they mangage to deafeat them.

Chapter 171 - This is my 15^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter showed off Erina's leadership as she brings hope unto the rebels who lost faith in themselves for their upcoming exams in Hokkaido and dedicates full support to help them by swearing on her "Gods Tongue", she will do whatever she could to help the proud chefs pass their exams to become second years.
• 14. Chapter 159 - This is my 14^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter presented Ryo's growth as a chef by his frustrations from failure/losses and his training from Stagiaire which accumulated into his victory upon his match against Rentarō Kusunoki who was chosen by Central.
• 13. Chapter 160 - This is my 13^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter brought out Alice's true feelings towards her dear cousin Erina and how much she despise Azami for ruining the relationship they could've shared if Azami hadn't interfered. What really made me love this chapter a lot was the face Alice made when she said,"I hate you, uncle Azami!" it really made me giggle and refreshed to see her usual expressions she would make with her face.
• 12. Chapter 164 - This is my 12^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter displayed all of Somas efforts he learned during his training with Shinomiya from Stagiare Week and the knowledge from his creative mind all into his dish. What really made me love this chapter a lot was that we seen flashbacks of Soma with Shinomiya and during those flashbacks, Shinomiya acknowledges Soma to a extent that he wants him to reach greater heights to view the summit of the culinary world and win against anyone who he faces and get stronger.
• 11. Chapter 195 - This is my 11^th favorite chapter from 2016 because we finally got backstory about Joichirou and his generation back then in his younger days at Tootsuki and this chapter really expressed Joichirou's character as a role model chef towards Gin and Azami despite his carefree personality. What I really love about this chapter was that we got to see exactly what type of chef Saiba was, which he's proclaimed as a genius in the culinary world who finds wonder within a dish to create it into something even greater.
• 10. Chapter 191 - This is my 10^th favorite chapter from 2016 because Soma finally got the revenge match he anticipated against Hayama and defeated him while at the same time saving him from the burden he bares from Azami. in addition, this is my 10^th favorite chapter because this chapter made me so happy to see Soma win and save Hayama from Central, but at the same time I feel despair knowing that Hisako, Ikumi and Isami were expelled. This chapter went from me being relieved to feeling despair but i'm a bit pleased that the series expelled some of the rebels just to be realistic because it's unlikely that most rebels will survive.
• 9. Chapter 150 - This is my 9^th favorite chapter from 2016 because back then, we learned a lot of new things about Azami and his motives but most of all, Erina finally heard that Saiba Joichirou is Somas father. I was freaking out and anticipated next chapter so much when the truth was finally revealed but what really made it so special was that this chapter (150) was the very first chapter of 2016 so it was a given to add this in the top 20 (lol)
• 8. Chapter 172 - This is my 8^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter brings out Erina character as she is devoted into her work and is willing to spend her time lecturing the rebels with information about Hokkaido that might be crucial to know if they want to pass their exams. What I also loved about this chapter was when Soma suggested Erina to relax but she denied it because she needs to work hard herself for the rebels to pass and not to mention when Erina said she wants everyone to pass including Soma himself and they will become second year together, it was really touching.
• 7. Chapter 196 - This is my 7^th favorite chapter from 2016 because as we go further into Saibas flashback of him in his generation, we learn that Saiba slowly loses his smile for cooking. As Saiba cooks, he's always trying to find a new way to make his dish evolve further but whenever he presents that new dish, people always say it's because he is a "genius" he can easily make something extraordinarily new, ignoring the fact that he put hard work into making that dish causing him to feel despair since no one appreciates his hard labor. Despite the flashback becoming darker, what makes this a great chapter was that it gives great details about Saibas burden and the interactions from the people is what makes the flashback something you look forward into reading.
• 6. Chapter 168 - This is my 6^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter is the beginning of Erinas character development towards Soma. What I loved about this chapter was that we learned that Erina never had passion for cooking and was inspired to become a chef by Somas father. What really made me love this chapter the most was when Soma told Erina that he will cook for her 1 night only. In my mind, this was finally the development I longed for a long time for Erina to finally get the development she deserves.
• 5. Chapter 179 - This is my 5^th favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter surprised me by introducing Somas elite 10 opponent who was Hayama. I always predicted that Hayama might've joined Central since he never appeared at the previous exams. What I really loved about this chapter was that Hayama's character was very villainy and not his typical calm and collective character which was very well written. What made this chapter great was the face expressions from Hayama, even though he is back talking Soma when I first read this I always thought it felt forced so he probably had a reason for joining Central which I concluded it was for Jun's sake?
• 4. Chapter 192 - This is my 4^th favorite chapter from 2016 because I just loved at the beginning how Erina was worried about Soma so she ran all the way to him and had a very adorable concerned expression. What highlighted this chapter for me was the fact that everyone except Soma, Takumi and Megumi are expelled. I first thought that Alice, Ryo, Takumi and Megumi will prevail but it's just Takumi and Megumi. What made this a great chapter was that despite everyone else losing, Soma wasn't really tilted about it because technically the rebels lost in terms of cooking and they weren't cheated so they don't have the right to jusge Central for expelling the other rebels.
• 3. Chapter 184 - This was my 3^rd favorite chapter from 2016 because this chapter focused more about Hayama's burden of joining Central. Despite Jun telling Hayama to not join Azami, he ignored her because he was willing to do anything as long as long as Jun has a place to stay since his Seminar was abolished. What I loved about this chapter was the fact that Soma ran out of the baths just to find Hayama and tell him how pathetic he was for selling himself out by joining up with Central instead of fighting Central.
• 2. Chapter 197 - This is my 2^nd favorite chapter from 2016 because in this chapter, Saiba finally couldn't handle the pressure he was given by the people who expected a "genius" like him to accomplish. What made this a great chapter was the visuals of Saiba being harmed in a dangerous storm despite him having bruises and a broken leg, he still continued to move in that storm to achieve his goal of finding new flavors. To be honest, this back story is really heart breaking to read how Saiba loses his passion for cooking, but it really catches us readers and makes us want to know more which is why I love this chapter.
• 1. Chapter 175 - This is my most favorite chapter from 2016 because since i'm a huge Soma x Erina shipper, I was very pleased how this chapter played out. This chapter confirmed to us readers that Erina doesn't hate Soma anymore and what really made me happy was when Soma and Erina both looked at the stars together from their window, also when Erina giggled at Soma's joke. This chapter really fills me with joy because of all the development Erina is getting she may soon fall in love with Soma. This is why this was my #1 favorite Shokugeki no Soma chapter from 2016 💖.
