Can anyone offer me advice to planning meals/workouts

Hello. I am a 21 year old student trying to lose weight. For about 5 years now I have been around the 230-250 lb range and I want to actually pursue playing on a collegiate soccer team when I transfer this fall. Throughout high-school my weight wasn't an issue because the soccer team I was on was poor and I was one of the few people who had any prior experience playing soccer. Now I'm coming to the realization that my weight is an issue, especially for the direction I want to head. I'm thankful for having no weight issues yet.

Food Situation: For the most part, I am cutting all sugars out of my diet (chocolates/sodas/juices), and eating less junk food (pizza/wings). My daily diet up to this point is: Macaroni and Cheese, Pizza, PB & J Sandwiches, Ramen, Riceroni, and Cantaloupe on occasion. I am researching more about healthy foods and the food groups now, hoping to have a more firm grasp on this subject and be able to regulate my intake. I am wondering if anybody has cheap meals they use to cook or still do cook. Whenever I lookup cheap meals they tend to be cheap for people with salaried jobs.

Workout Situation: At the gym, I have no idea what to do. I run for about 20 minutes and then I randomly use machines for reps of 10. Recently I have started doing as many reps as I can. Something else I notice is that many people have leg days, but my legs are already really strong, should I still have whole days dedicated to my lower body?

TLDR: Any advice on creating/cooking cheap (college student) meals and any good guides for using(?) the gym.
