I've read the posts from previous years, and I was wondering what suggestions you all might have this year. This would be great place for everyone's suggestions, group or solo volunteers.
For My Group:
- we have a group of 10-20 people that are interested in doing something once a month.
- we work together, but work is not sponsoring us (ex: dumb friends league wants something like $1000 for a group to volunteer, not so if you go individually, but we just don't have the $$$ for that)
- We have done special olympics, and we are looking into Habitat for Humanity, but would really like to work with Colorado/Denver based organizations moving forward.
I would love to hear from the community, but here are some places we have looked into, for any others that may be looking for volunteer opportunities this year.
Opportunities for Everyone
- Denver Public Library - includes reading to kids, or teaching people how to use computers at night
- Denver Urban Gardens - building community gardens at schools an in food deserts in metro denver and surrounding areas
- Urban Peak - working to house at risk youth, projects include cleaning up and painting apartments or cooking meals
- Volunteer Outdoor Colorado - cleaning up trails and the environment
- Dumb Friends League - kittens! puppies!
I'll try to keep editing this list to add links and descriptions to the top or I'll follow up with a google sheet or something so it will be easy for everyone to reference in the future.
