[Question] My first automatic, realistic expectations for power reserve?

I received my first entry level automatic watch, a Seiko SNZG13, for Christmas. I really like the watch. It fits me well and looks good. I do have some questions about it's power reserve. I'm a novice regarding watches, especially automatics, so I'm not sure what my realistic expectations should be. The watch is advertised with a 40 hour power reserve. I expected that to be under optimum conditions and that real world power reserve would be less. I only have a week of experience with the watch but I can provide 2 examples of what I'm seeing and wondering if this is typical or signs that something could be wrong with the watch. On Friday I wore the watch to work and had it on my wrist for 8 hours. I work a job where I do have to move around, using my hands to grab stuff, reaching onto shelves, walking around, etc. so not just sitting still. I took the watch off at 3pm after work and let it sit overnight. The next morning it was still running and I wore the watch from 8:30-9am for a half hour walk with my dog then took it off. When I came back later the watch had stopped running at 11am. That afternoon I started the watch with a couple shakes and wore it from 4pm until a little after midnight (about 8 hours). We hosted a New Year's dinner party so I was cooking, moving around, mingling, etc. so again not just sitting still. This morning the watch was dead marking time at 6am. I guess my question is if this is normal or could the watch possibly be defective? I would have thought I would get a little more reserve that what I'm seeing so far. Other than that the watch appears to function properly and runs accurate enough for my needs even though I haven't tested it. I appreciate any feedback.
