New guy

About a year ago, my sister had to move across the pond for work, and she left me her cast iron skillet. I didn't know anything about cooking with it and have been very limited in what I choose to cook with it. At first it was exclusively just for browning ground beef, but I have since started to cook more and more dishes in it. However, soon she will be moving back, which means I will be without a cast iron skillet. How does one go about choosing their cast iron? Do you pick one with good reviews and hope for the best? What about the light skillets like Field or Stargazer? Is it hard to find vintage skillets?
