Creators admitted in an interview that they fiddled with the story for about 3 years(!) cooking in a lot of details and that there are puzzle clues spread throughout the show.
I binge watched the whole series this weekend and after went back and wrote down some of the things I found to be strange or possible clues. In case anyone is interested I will list some of them below. This is assuming OA's story is real; ofc, there's also the version when she's just a schizophrenic seeking meaning and walking into some coincidences...
-
First, the new name Prairie comes back with: The OA - could be away; a way; DOA= dead on arrival; dead or alive; devil or angel?.. She says it comes from original angel, which in Christianity is Lucifer (light bringer).
DOA= invalid or rejected(from dead on arrival, used to mean that someone died just as medical staff reached them or they were brought to the medical staff and informally to mean void). -
I found it weird that OA and Homer knew exactly how much time they had spent as captives, although they didn't have natural light and she even complains at some point that they had no way of telling the time. OA says to the FBI task force officers: "7 years, 3 months, 11 days" and Homer tells OA that 1 year and 36 days ago some guy(Hap) had offered him 500 bucks for an NDE study.

regarding point 2. I pinned some abduction timelines for Homer and OA: OA looks up Homer online and she finds a news youtube video posted on Nov 2nd, 2007 about how Homer came back to life after being in a coma for 1 year post a football game accident, in which he states something in the lines: 'this year[...] I'm leaving with that ring'. We know that he had the ring when Hap abducted him, so when could this have happened? Next championship would have had to take place in autumn of 2008, which means Hap has kidnapped him afterwards, so: end of 2008(most likely) or in 2009? OA uploads her video asking for help on Feb 9th, 2016 and we know that she had been captive for more than 7 years and 3 months, so she went missing in December 2009.
-
Second time OA meets Khatun, she reveals one wing, is she maybe half-angel? That would make her a nephilim (one of it's translations is "giant" which she seems to be, as there are countless galaxies floating around her).
-
When Hap interrogates OA after her second NDE he asks her if she met someone in the other realm "who's not alive in this world" and she answers yes: she met her father. Her father also had the braille-like symbols on his face, same as Khatun.
-
In episode 7, when they all come to the abandoned house, the camera work implies that there's already somebody there, first watching them from a window, then from between some wooden boards(minute 27 or so), which would make the theory that the FBI counselor planted the books in her house plausible. As he was the only one who knew that OA was talking to the 5, when and where, it's likely that he might have snooped in.
-
When OA chats with Betty she tells her that the future is dark, she can't see it, so the only way to bring light to it is by living. Religious parallel with the fallen angels would be in Jude 1:6 where it's mentioned that the angels that resigned/left their places in Heaven were condemned to darkness until the judgement day.
-
The ranger's wife tells OA and Homer in final episode that she had had an NDE where a small girl told her she would one day help 2 captive angels (why just the 2, why not 5?).
-
In Cuba Homer says he doesn't know his age, was he speaking as angel(?), because as human he did (see point 2.)
-
Other weird things: I didn't quite got where OA could have had copper in the scars from, why she asked the 5 to leave their doors open (she left the doll house door herself), or to close their eyes. Or: when she starts her old computer she had the "show password" checkbox checked, why would a blind person need that?
And one more funny thing I noticed when Betty google searched "OA" she got some personalized search results - her first links were for "Overeaters anonymous"- I chuckled a bit.
Any other stuff to mention that you have?
